Environmental Impact of the Fashion Industry | Season X, Episode 17

Press/Media: Expert Comment

Description

We often talk about the beauty of fashion, but we rarely confront its cost—not the price on the tag, but the price the planet pays. As we move toward a circular bioeconomy, the shift from "take-make-waste" to regenerative systems is no longer optional. It is a necessity.

I’m excited to join Desmond Murray on Environmental Fridays (Season X) to discuss the research and innovations that can bridge the gap between high fashion and high-level sustainability.

What We’ll Be Exploring:
• From Food Waste to High Fashion: Insights from my research on turning agricultural waste into bio-based textiles.
• Economic Growth vs. Circularity: Can a sustainable supply chain actually drive global market growth? (Spoiler: Yes, and I’ll show you how).
• Beyond Greenwashing: Why material science and systems-change theory are the only ways to achieve true transparency.

I’ll be joined by my co-hosts Armani and Stanton for what promises to be a rigorous and eye-opening session.
