Meet David G. Wolf
Dr. David G. Wolf, professor and healthcare management program coordinator at Lynn University's College of Business and Management, has a gift for leading.
"Healthcare and business are about leading with heart, ethics and skillful strategy to achieve organizational goals and the best possible patient outcomes," said Wolf.
Originally from Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, Wolf discovered his aptitude for healthcare leadership through a series of surprise connections and unexpected opportunities. While attending Villanova University to receive a Bachelor of Science in administrative science, Wolf worked as a bank teller in Philadelphia—a job that admittedly left him feeling unfulfilled. His late father, whom he warmly regarded as his mentor and best friend, worked for IBM and presented an opportunity that became Wolf's first foray into the healthcare industry.
"My dad was working for an IBM client—a nursing home—when he overheard that the home was looking for someone to replace their treasurer, who was becoming the president of the organization. He helped me get an interview," said Wolf. "The man who would eventually become my boss and mentor warned me that the pay was very low, but promised he'd take me under his wing and teach me how the business of healthcare works in America—it was the single best decision I ever made."
The job opened the door for Wolf to move up the ladder in his healthcare career. Years later, he excelled as chief financial officer for a 180-bed nursing home in Linwood, New Jersey. In 1990, Wolf—then in his twenties—purchased the company and became the center's president, chief executive officer and licensed nursing home administrator (LNHA), taking his leadership experience to new heights.
Wolf tapped into his entrepreneurial spirit and hired an architect to build an assisted living facility directly across the street from his nursing home, which he named Brandall Estates to honor his father's name. The facility sold out of rooms before opening to the public in 1997 and retains a significant waiting list to this day.Producer/Author Lynn University URL https://youtu.be/ZuQNleFbBck?si=uljOlDoN_2lUIxLW Persons David G.
