Professional Overview
Michael Finn has enjoyed a rich and varied career as a performer, educator, producer, and executive. As musicologist, he is pleased to present his program, “The Key is Key” to the Caroga Lake Music Festival.
Currently, he is the Head of Woodwinds at the Conservatory of Music at LYNN University. Prior to that appointment he was the Artistic Director for Classic Chamber Concerts in Naples, Florida. Additionally, Michael was Co-Founder and Artistic Director of the Chamber Music Society of Palm Beach and Executive Director of the Palm Beach Symphony. He came to Florida from New York where he worked at Lincoln Center as the Director of Artistic Planning and Associate Dean at The Juilliard School. He was much in demand as a bassoonist and orchestral personnel manager.
He has produced operatic and orchestral performances at festivals around the world including the Spoleto Festival in Italy, the Lucerne Festival in Switzerland, the BBC Proms in London, and in major concert halls in the USA including Carnegie Hall, Avery Fisher Hall, and Alice Tully Hall in New York, Symphony Hall in Chicago, and Disney Hall in Los Angeles.
Finn, a performer and graduate of The Juilliard School, has appeared in most major concert halls of North, Central, and South America, Europe, and Asia in such prestigious ensembles as the Orpheus Chamber Orchestra, the Orchestra of St. Luke’s, the Metropolitan Opera, Musicians from Marlboro, the award-winning chamber ensemble Hexagon, and the Salzburg Bach Orchestra. A special highlight of his career was participation in the farewell concerts of Luciano Pavarotti at Madison Square Garden in New York. Michael has performed with many of the world’s leading artists and ensembles including Joshua Bell, Peter Serkin, and the Tokyo and Miro String Quartets. He has recorded extensively for the classical and commercial industry.
