Rose Llanos is beginning her third year of her doctoral program at Lynn University. The focus of her dissertation is how to apply an equity lens through the use of a universal design learning approach in the file review process for admission counselors. Her goal is to work with aligning her dissertation in working with the student accessibility office and Institute of Achievement and Learning to develop professional development training for admission counselors to improve their awareness and implicit bias when working with students with diverse backgrounds, specifically those who document their diagnosed learning differences during the application process. The conceptual framework in the research design will follow that of the Universal Design of Learning which upholds the United Nations Sustainable Developmental Goals (UN SDGs), specifically for goal #10 of reduced inequalities and goal #4 of quality education.
