Description
The researchers argue that visual literacy and art education are vital for students’ ability to thrive in modernity. Using qualitative methods and an action research design, the study analyzes participants' prior experiences with art to understand their visual literacy and its connections to artistry. Visual literacy and artistic literacy are found to be complimentary, sharing similar pedagogical learning objectives. The findings of this paper point towards significant connections between visual literacy and artistic learning, offering valuable insights for future research and practice. The pressing need for visual literacy learning in modern schools serves as a basis for art educators to advocate for their field by enhancing visual literacy outcomes.
