Research output: Other contribution

Abstract

Dr. Robert Watson, Distinguished Professor of American History, delivers an indictment of the current administration's leadership and handling of the COVID-19 pandemic through stories from U.S. history.

On this video, Dr. Watson shares two stories from the time of the Spanish Influenza. He also talks about the historic emergence of great leaders during times of crisis, and how Americans should learn lessons from history as it pertains to the COVID-19 crisis. Dr. Watson concludes by instructing Americans to tap into the better nature within ourselves during this time, something President Abraham Lincoln referred to in his first inaugural address as being "better angels".
