Abstract

Adlerian counseling, Motivational Interviewing, and photography all have a common focus: one’s own potential. Using photography as a metaphor the presentation addresses the theoretical overlap between Motivational Interviewing and Adlerian Theory and demonstrates how MI evokes a client’s own motivation to change.
Participants will learn: 1.) the theoretical overlap between Motivational Interviewing and Adlerian Psychology 2.) motivational Interviewing strategies to augment Adlerian techniques, to assist clients who are ambivalent about change.
