Abstract

In the paper and presentation titled, "How Accessibility Impacts the Guest Experience for Deaf and Hard-of-Hearing Individuals," the student explores the crucial role of accessibility in the hospitality industry, focusing specifically on the experiences of deaf and hard-of-hearing guests. The paper begins with a comprehensive overview of the legal frameworks such as the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), which mandates accessibility provisions in public spaces, including hotels and resorts. The student then delves into various technological and service-oriented solutions that can enhance accessibility, such as visual alert systems for hotel rooms, captioned televisions, and the availability of sign language interpreters.
