Abstract
Near-infrared photoacoustic spectra of powdered homo-polypeptides are reported. A theoretical framework based on the local mode model is presented for the near-infrared spectra. Guided by local mode model predictions and the mid-infrared homo-polypeptide mode frequencies, detailed spectral assignments are made, and the structural significance of the assignments is discussed.
