Abstract

To understand the literary theory that we were being exposed to, the professor assigned Terry Eagleton’s Literary Theory. This 1983 text breaks down different methods of analysis in the chronological order in which they appeared, revealing an evolutionary, generational thinking behind literary theory that resembles inbred royalty.

Jeff Morgan, adjunct professor in the College of Arts and Sciences, published his sixth book, "Poems Inspired by the Parts of Terry Eagleton's Literary Theory that I Don't Really Understand." The work is a surrealist satire, featuring cover art designed by Professor Emeritus Ernest Ranspach.
