Abstract
The integration of artificial intelligence (AI) in education is revolutionizing the way we teach and learn. One of the most promising advancements in this field is the Generative Pre-trained Transformer (GPT), a powerful language model capable of understanding and generating human-like text. In this workshop, we will explore the process of building and customizing a GPT model specifically for your educational needs. We will discuss the fundamentals of GPT technology, identify educational pitfalls it can address, and outline the steps to develop, customize, and implement a GPT model to enhance teaching and learning experiences. Additionally, we will discuss the ethical considerations and best practices for using AI in education. Learning Objectives By the end of the workshop, participants will be able to: 1. Recall the fundamentals of GPT technology and its applications in education. 2. Identify specific educational needs that can be addressed with a custom GPT model. 3. Develop and customize a GPT model tailored to their educational context. 4. Implement the custom GPT model to improve instructional design and learner engagement. 5. Explore the ethical considerations and best practices for using AI in education. Workshop Materials • As this is a BYOD workshop, participants will be required to: Provide their own device.; Have a valid ChatGPT account. Key Takeaways • Create your personal GPT
